Hey, Christie!

When my sister married five years ago at Ainsworth House & Gardens, she carried a denure bouquet.  Now that I’m planning my wedding at Ainsworth House next year, I’d like your ideas for showstopping bridal bouquet design.

Thanks in advance for your answer!

Hey, Stephanie!

That’s a great question that we can answer!

Let’s go!

Trending Showstopping Bridal Bouquet Designs:

1. Hand-Tied Wedding Bouquet (or Garden Wedding Bouquet):

This is one of the most popular wedding bouquet designs!

As the antithesis to the controlled shape of the Round Bridal Bouquet, the Hand-Tied is a very organic, loose design as though the flowers and greenery of varied stem lengths were just picked from the garden and tied together with a long, gorgeous ribbon. The effect is natural, lush, and every so slightly asymmetrical! Floral designers love to use peonies, dahlias, garden roses, and ranunculus.

2. Freeform Bridal Bouquet Design:

While most bridal bouquet designs =are vertical, the Freeform Wedding Bouquet is horizontal.

Like the Hand-Tied Wedding Bouquet, the Freeform features a variety flowers and greenery in various shapes, stem lengths, and colors.

Loosely tied with a beautiful ribbon, the look is perfectly imperfect by being asymmetrical and imbalanced.

When they see it, this bouquet will definitely have your guests saying, “WOW!”

3. Cascade Wedding Bouquet:

If you Google Princess Diana’s  wedding bouquet, you’ll understand this quickly–after all, her bouquet was about 40” long and was the showstopper needed to stand up to her incredible dress!

The Cascade is an upside-down teardrop: wider at the top before tapering down to a narrow point at the bottom.

Anchored into a handheld base, the flowers and greenery spill down like a waterfall of floral beauty! Does it have to be 40” long like Princess Diana’s? No. The usual size is halfway down the front of the bride’s body to almost touching the floor.

If you want to make an entrance, then the Cascade design  is a winner!

Unusual Bridal Bouquet Designs:

4. Biedermeier Wedding Bouquet:

From 1815-1848, the Biedermeir interior design aesthetic trended in Germany. In floral design, it is one large, vibrant flower (like the protea below) surrounded by concentric rows of one  flower such as brightly colored roses.

Each row is a specific flower in a specific color and each row is different from the other rows to give a striped or bull’s eye effect. It’s definitely an attention-grabbing bouquet!

5. Composite Bridal Bouquet:

To design this bouquet, you select one color (for example, white) and then select a number of different  flowers (e.g., roses, tulips, gardenias). Your floral designer plucks the petals from these different flowers to build what appears to be one gigantic white flower supported on a single stem called a “glamelia.” It’s an unforgettable bouquet!

6. Oversized Bridal Bouquet:

If you have fallen in love with adding unexpected elements such as dried grasses, herbs, or branches, then this might be the design for you! Although these large, asymmetrical bouquets of fresh blooms and greenery were popular for many wedding themes back in the day, they are now popular for  boho weddings.

7. Pageant Wedding Bouquet:

If you want to channel a Miss America vibe into your wedding flowers, this is definitely the way to do so!

I hope that helps get you started!
